Rachel McClellan was born in Idaho and is now married with four little kids. She loves Ranch dressing. Mmmm (that makes me want pizza). Rachel is also the debut author of Fractured Light, a kick-butt, YA story about a parent-less girl (but there is a good uncle), senior year in high school, and some spectacular abilities with Light (and symbolism, I might add; truth, happiness/comfort, and not weighing very much). And there's a guy. Well, actually a couple of them. A few of them. And murder. This story is a wild ride that will have you on the edge of your pillow, second guessing the characters, and trying to figure out what's going on right alongside Llona. Fractured Light will be released February 7, 2012. Read the summary and watch the Fractured Light book trailer farther down to learn more.
When asked if she needs quiet or listens to music while writing, Rachel McClellan responded, "Must. Have. Music. I'm convinced that in every musical note there is a story waiting to be told." To illustrate this --or rather audi-strate? Audio-tize?-- here is Rachel's awesome Fractured Light playlist! Get a feel for the story by listening to the music featured below (yes, Hello Kitty is the music player. I couldn't resist).

(Amazon link)I’m dying, I thought. This was unexpected and not at all how I envisioned my death. I was supposed to die gardening in a flowerbed as a hundred-year-old woman, not as a seventeen-year-old trapped in a lake beneath inches of ice.
Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.
As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.
In this breathtaking and romantic adventure, Rachel McClellan delivers a truly mesmerizing story that will keep you guessing to the very end.
Watch this book trailer for Fractured Light (great music, great text effects. I really like it).
"The future is never ours alone. Without others, our destiny could never be fulfilled. Could you imagine Superman trying to fulfill his purpose if there weren't people to save?"
