The Week in Review & A Look Ahead

The Week in Review:

Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 7th & 8th), Susan Wojciechowski signed her book The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey at the SCERA Theater. The musical version of her book has been playing at the SCERA since November, and will continue through Dec. 19th. Cool side note: Author Randall Wright (The Silver Penny, The Cheshire Cheese Cat) is one of the co-creators of this musical and is a guitar player on stage during the show! (Sadly though, I did not get his autograph when I was there Thursday night. I wasn't quite sure it was him. But now I know and I am tempted to go back to meet him!) To see a few pictures of the event please click here.

YA debut author Courtney King Walker signed her book On The Fringe (which came out in October) on Thursday, Dec. 8th at the Orem Barnes & Noble. Her book is on my Christmas list, but I did get a couple of bookmarks and her autograph on a book plate! Courtney is a super nice lady and I hope we get to see more of her around here at other book events!

On Friday at the Orem Barnes & Noble, there was a Polar Express Party and reading. Just FYI. (It's cool that B&N hosts special reading days and parties for kid's books. I'll try to keep posting them on the events page in case any of you are interested in going to them with your kids [or no kids])
Oh. And I'd like to share some importnat info. with you that was finalized on Saturday:
The 30th annual "LIFE, THE UNIVERSE, & EVERYTHING" Sci-fi & Fantasy Symposium will be held on FEB. 9, 10, & 11, 2012 at the Utah Valley University Student Center! This event is spectacular for science fiction and fantasy writers and artists and features a slew of workshops and presentations by authors, artists, professors, and others In-The-Know about these types of things. The registration prices are still being worked out, but they won't be over the top by any means. Mark your calendars and plan on having a blast in early February!
Releases:
Eternal Starling by Angela Corbett (Utah author!), Dec. 6th
Geek Girl by Cindy C. Bennett (LDS), Dec. 8th
A Look Ahead:

Okay. This upcoming Saturday is going to be wild and awesome. Plan to hang out in Orem and then skip over to Provo (or I guess you could start out in Provo and then hot-tail it to Orem). Here's the run down (all for Saturday, Dec. 17th):

**After the Holiday Book Fest, head on over to the Orem Pkwy Deseret Book and meet author Clark Burbidge and illustrator Annie Henrie signing their Christmas picture book A Piece of Silver from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM. Click here to view the A Piece of Silver book website.

**THEN, ski-dattle over to the Orem Barnes & Noble to meet the incredible Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, Alcatraz series). He will be signing from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

**If you haven't met the awesome YA author Lisa Mangum yet, hop over to the University Village Desseret Book (the one by the University Mall) and get her to autograph her Hourglass Door trilogy for you. She'll be signing from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM.
